Occupational Health & Safety: Reproductive Health

occupational health.jpg

It is well established that occupational factors influence fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Occupational and environmental health topics have permeated government policy, community development and advocacy, and help shape our consumer practices, food and product choices, particularly during periods of conception and perinatal/neonatal development.

To better inform and improve sexual and reproductive health, we evaluated Canadian occupational health and safety legislation using a sex and gender based analysis (SGBA+) approach. Specifically, we explored whether current legislation protects developmental health and reproductive capacity (ie. fertility, pregnancy) and ensures discrimination/harassment-free workplaces.
