Infertility - Perceptions, Actions

MSc Thesis: KACHCHAKADUGE NURASHA FERNANDO

The proposed study will evaluate the strategies used by a Gen Z population to optimize fertility using an inclusive sex-and gender-based analysis plus (SGBA+) approach to evaluate perceptions of both clinical and social infertility.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS/ OBJECTIVES

What are university students’ awareness, knowledge and perceptions regarding infertility, and related treatments?

What strategies do university students use to optimize fertility?

Research objectives:

  • Objective 1: Evaluate young adults’ awareness and knowledge of infertility including risks and treatments, using a SGBA+ lens.

  • Objective 2: Explore young adults’ perceptions of family planning and infertility in the context of culture, family and community using a SGBA+ lens

  • Objective 3: Identify actions used to preserve fertility.
